About Prof. Noel Tagoe
Dean, Nile Business School
Prof. Noel Tagoe is a globally recognised thought leader and consultant in finance, education, strategy, technology, and sustainability. He brings a wealth of leadership experience from academia, professional bodies, and corporate advisory roles.
He previously served as Professor of Accounting Practice at Nottingham University Business School, and as Executive Vice President, Research & Curricula at AICPA–CIMA (Association of International Certified Professional Accountants – Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), where he led the development of global competency frameworks that are shaping the future of the accounting profession.
Prof. Tagoe has advised leading organisations in the automotive, aviation, financial services, and FMCG sectors on finance transformation, digital strategy, managing disruption, and sustainability/ESG. His earlier corporate experience includes roles at BP and Elf Aquitaine (now TotalEnergies), leadership at KPMG Ghana, and teaching positions at the University of Oxford, University of Manchester, and University College Dublin.
A former member of the Board of Directors for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the global professional body for HR and people development, Prof. Tagoe remains deeply engaged in advancing the future of business education and leadership development across Africa and beyond.
He holds degrees from the University of Ghana, the University of Dundee, and the University of Oxford, and is a Fellow of CIMA.

Semester 1
Analysis of Business Problems
This course focuses on diagnosing and solving complex business problems using structured approaches. Topics include problem identification techniques, root cause analysis, SWOT and PESTEL analysis, and solution development. Students will learn to apply frameworks like the ‘5 whys’, fishbone diagrams, and scenario planning to real-world business cases. Emphasis is placed on analytical skills, critical thinking, and the practical application of problem-solving methodologies.
Strategic Management
This course provides an in-depth understanding of strategic management processes. Topics include strategic planning, competitive advantage, strategic analysis (SWOT, Porter’s Five Forces), corporate strategy, and strategy implementation. Students will analyse case studies to develop and implement strategic plans, focusing on aligning organisational resources and capabilities with business goals for long-term success.
Organisational Leadership and Change Management
This course focuses on key interpersonal and teamwork skills essential for successful global business management. You will be introduced to the skills that underlie management and leadership effectiveness in the global business environment, and you will learn to adapt these skills for different contexts. Change management is also covered, guiding you to understand the systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organisation’s goals, processes, or technologies. This course will help you appreciate change management as a collective term for all approaches to prepare, support, and assist individuals, teams, and organisations in realizing any change objective. Other topics covered include understanding the concept of change, principles of change, formulating a strategy for change, change management models, managing resistance to change, barriers to organisational change, and internal and external environmental factors that can impact a business or organisation, triggering change.
Business Environment Analysis
This course prepares current and future leaders and entrepreneurs to plan, launch, and grow organisations within the context of their local and national social, political, legal cultural and economic environment. You will learn how to analysise both national and global business environments and their impact on businesses.
Corporate Financial Accounting
This course aims to give you an understanding of fundamental accounting principles, the bookkeeping process, financial statements, and how they are useful to users of information produced by the accounting system. It covers books of original entry, ledgers, bank reconciliation statements, adjustments before the final accounts, and the preparation of corporate financial statements such as the statement of profit and loss, statement of financial position, cash flow statement, and statement of change in equity. The course will also cover topical issues in accounting practice such as regulatory and conceptual frameworks, the impact of disruptive technologies on accounting, and sustainability reporting.
Strategic Marketing
By the end of this course, you will develop a general understanding and appreciation of the forces, institutions, and various strategies used to create and enhance markets. You will learn how to understand consumers, including the factors that influence them and the purchase process they undergo. Other topics covered include an introduction to marketing, marketing philosophies, the marketing environment, consumer behaviour, business buying behaviour, market segmentation, target marketing, positioning, product and brand management, pricing, distribution, and marketing strategies.
Economics for Decision-Makers
This course aims to provide you with a foundational understanding of economic concepts crucial for comprehending consumer, business, and public policy decision-making. You will focus on learning robust theories, models, and practical methods applicable to evaluating policy-making issues across diverse contexts. The first half of the course covers an introduction to micro and macroeconomics, competitive markets, and economic efficiency. It delves into consumer optimisation and the demand for goods, firm optimisation and the supply of goods, market power, externalities in consumption and production, and optimal provision of public goods. Additionally, it addresses asymmetric information and market failure. The latter half of the course focuses on the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, the exchange process, the role of government, national income and its distribution, gross domestic product (GDP), consumption function, savings function, the labour market, investment spending, the multiplier principle, and the influence of government spending on income and output. Furthermore, it analyses monetary policy, including the banking system and the central bank (federal reserve) system.
Negotiation
Negotiation in management presents negotiation theory – strategies and styles – within an employment context. In this course, you will understand the theory and processes of negotiation in a variety of settings. You will develop negotiation skills needed to thrive in business environments by addressing a variety of negotiation topics experientially through: preparing for and simulating a range of negotiation situations, and analysing your negotiation outcomes and strategies. Experiences and negotiation theory are integrated in a weekly debrief. Readings and case studies will complement your classroom experience and reinforce key messages.
Semester 2
Cost and Management Accounting
This course delves into managerial accounting and cost management practices, strategically applicable across various functions of an organisation to enhance organisational performance. Emphasis is placed on methods to measure and evaluate costs for decision-making and performance assessment. The course scrutinises several cost management issues concerning the design and implementation of strategic, marketing, value analysis, and other management models in contemporary firms. Additionally, it identifies major contemporary issues in managerial accounting and financial decision-making. You will explore various case studies from different industries and decision contexts to deepen your understanding and practice application of these concepts.
Organisational Behaviour
Globalisation, technological advancement, open markets, and human desires to succeed have resulted in increasingly competitive and stressful work landscapes. Managing human behaviour and channeling it appropriately is also important for organisations. The study of organisational behaviour relates to the expected behaviour of individuals and teams in organisations, both of which are influenced by situational factors and interactions. In this course, you will learn how to apply motivational theories, and to understand the art of leadership and the skill of redesigning and modifying jobs to align with organisational structures; all ongoing processes that facilitate positive work environments leading to increased job satisfaction of employees, greater productivity, and organisational growth.
Operations Management
Operations management comprises the set of activities that create value by transforming inputs into outputs. Competitive advantage in operations holds critical importance in any business. This course equips you with concepts, techniques, and tools to design, analyse, and enhance corporate operations to deliver value efficiently and effectively to customers. Emphasis is placed on integration with other business functions such as marketing, human resources, and information management. Many managers must consider the interdependent nature of an organisation and the requirement for cross-functional decision-making in diverse markets. This course integrates traditional marketing, human resource, information systems, and supply chain management knowledge and approaches into an integrated operations management perspective to enable you to meet this challenge when operating in various business environments and addressing the differing dynamics of value generation.
Business Law
This course provides an overview of the foundational principles of business law, exploring its sources and definitions. You will delve into the nature of contract law, examining its sources and classifications, including the formation of contracts, covering offer, acceptance, consideration, intention to create legal relations, and capacity. Additionally, you will explore the terms of contracts, including express and implied terms, conditions, and warranties. The course also covers the law of agency, hire purchase agreements, and the carriage of goods by sea, water, and land. Further topics include an introduction to banking and insurance law, an overview of e-commerce law, and an introduction to company law. Legislation affecting business activities in Nigeria will be discussed, along with an exploration of international institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), World Bank, and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Data Science for Business
This course provides an overview of data science, data mining, and business intelligence techniques. Topics include data extraction, data transformation, data mining methods, business intelligence tools, and data visualization. Students will engage in hands-on projects to analyse data, extract insights, and make data-driven business decisions using various data science and business intelligence tools.
Information Technology for Competitive Advantage
This course gives you insight into IT-related decisions and how effective IT use can transform your business to create a competitive advantage. The critical components will include: providing insights into the use of IT as a business enabler; analysising current and emerging trends in using IT to innovate and create a competitive advantage; using IT tools and data for effective decision-making; carrying out an IT value audit; understanding IT and business alignment; budgeting for IT effectively; understanding the intersection between data and technology; managing IT resources and skills; and, using IT for social change initiatives.
Corporate Finance Management
This course explores the theoretical and practical aspects of financing organisations and institutions, as well as the strategies adopted in attracting increases in budget allocation. This course will enable you to learn how to compare various investment types, select the most viable financial investment opportunity, and maximise your organisation’s wealth. You will also learn: how financial managers use discounted cash flow and rate-of-return analyses to evaluate projects and financial instruments, the role of the cost of capital and portfolio theories — including the capital asset pricing model (CAPM), arbitrage pricing theory and efficient market hypothesis in capital investment analysis and selection — as well as how to analyse the financial statement reports for decision-making. All the above aspects to be addressed using appropriate real life situations and cases.
Research Methodology
This course is designed to equip you with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to conduct robust business research. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, you will learn various research methodologies and tools essential for analysing business problems and making data-driven decisions. Topics to be covered include introduction to research methods, research design, data collection, techniques, sampling methods, quantitative data analysis, qualitative data analysis, research ethics, writing, and presenting research findings.

Capstone Project

The application fee for the Executive MBA (EMBA) programme is ₦10,000. Applications for Layer 2 are due by 30 March 2026.
The programme is designed for senior leaders who have significant professional experience and are educated to at least degree level. Applicants are required to have a minimum of five years of work experience and hold a Bachelor’s degree.
Prospective students are encouraged to begin the application process as early as possible, as certain parts of the process may take several hours to complete.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Executive MBA programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of five O’ level credits (or equivalent), obtained in no more than two sittings
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class classification; an original transcript in English is required
- At least five years of relevant work experience
- Two letters of reference
During the initial screening process, your eligibility will be assessed based on these criteria. If your application is successful at this stage, you will be required to pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦10,000 before proceeding to the interview stage.
EMBA Interview Process
Applicants who pass the initial screening will be invited to attend a one-hour interview. This interview is conducted remotely, allowing you to participate at a convenient time without the need to travel to Abuja.
After completing the interview, the admissions committee will review your performance and notify you of the outcome of your application.
Equipment Requirements
To successfully participate in the EMBA programme, you must have reliable access to a desktop computer or laptop. While a mobile app is available for learning on the go, some features of the online courses may not be fully compatible with mobile devices.
Your computer should meet the following minimum specifications:
- A processor speed of 2 GHz or faster
- At least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
- A webcam
- A microphone
- Speakers or headphones
In addition, consistent internet access is required throughout the duration of the programme.
Tuition Fees
The Executive MBA programme has a total cost of ₦5,000,000, which includes an enrollment fee of ₦1,670,000 and tuition of ₦3,330,000; payments can be made as a once-off, annually, or in semester installments, and a non-refundable application fee of ₦10,000 is also required.
Travel
You will be expected to come to campus in Abuja at least once during the 18-month programme. The purpose of this is to attend one of our immersive weeks in person, as these are great opportunities for networking with other students and developing your collaborative problem-solving skills. Those who are able to come to campus more often are encouraged to do so.
